    Hey OP

Growth, or recession, is a variation of GDP

GDP is the sum of gross profits across the country

So, even if companies have poor or zero net income, they are still turning a gross profit and still contributing to GDP

Therefore these earning calls are not specifically correlated to gdp growth or decline, and neither is the stock market in general, which is supposed to track net earnings

Ton of Bay Area companies are heavily dependent on Apple as a customer and if Apple goes down it will take a lot more with it

BTW, the iphone upgrades between 12 and 13 are meaningless. The logic behind apple your argument does not take into consideration the increase in the life of product. I.e If you pay is cut and/or other hardships you will definitely delay the purchase of an UPGRADED iPhone.
Heck, people might switch to cheaper alternatives samsung/Motorola or other chinese phones

      OP
Not true, they reported they lost users for the first time in 18 years this signals a potential peak for the company and the market prices in slowed growth

Sure EPS is important but the reason companies trade way over their value is because the market prices in future growth potential, the same thing happened to apple in 2013 (google apple slowdown 2013, stock took a dive in Q2-Q3) the market saw a slowdown and repriced it’s potential growth

If it’s a growth stock then PEG ratio which factors in EPS and EPS growth

In the end it’s still just all about EPS
