As an immigrant, I am scared to wake up every morning. 1. Earlier this year kids were being separated from their parents 2. Birthright citizenship could be cancelled 3. Work visas being denied left and right, even FANG and M ones. 4. Even on blind, (which for the most part has sensible, tech workers) there is at least one ‘go back where you came from’ post or comment. 5. If i inadvertently end up on some fox news article, the article is bizzare, and some(most) of the comments are completely scary. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next proposal is to revoke citizenships, if you were born when your parents weren’t yet naturalized The anti immigrant sentiment seems very very hot. How are other immigrants here, feeling?
Status of the kid in most countries follows that of the parent. You should try to see how it works in China.... I always found it funny how the Us does it.
There aren't that many jus soli countries, but its kinda one of the bedrock concepts of the us. Otherwise what justification do white people have to live here? It's no accident the entire western hemisphere is jus soli https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jus_soli
Legal immigrant. Went to school(US), started my first job in US and never worked anywhere else so far. Little scary to adapt to new work style but I made up my mind to go back anytime due to visa issue if it happens. It’s waste of my energy and time to think about things that I’ve no control over. Now I don’t give a f.
I experienced my first racist incident yesterday, from a middle aged employee of another megacorp right in the heart of silicon valley. Hurts man, fkin hurts.
2 is impossible, it's written in the constitution
I dont give a f. Will vote Trump out in 2020. Good luck with his fear mongering and BS rhetoric. I agree with him on certain issues, but many are unacceptable and just dumb. He may (or may not) be a good businessman, but he has zero qualifications to be the POTUS imo. The truth is any hard-working people, esp immigrants, is the greatest resources to keep the US competitive in the long term. Sadly, not many people realize that. Legal immigrant. Got my GC 5 years ago and about to take US citizen test next week.
Try waking up black.
Ouch.
This guy gets it
Immigration is like new fish in the water... to be safe if you stop new fish to enter... then it will ruin freshness of the lake.. choice is yours
Go out and vote if you can
I don't mind being lumped in with unauthorized immigrants and mediocre consultants. I happen to be lucky enough to be born intelligent and to have had access to good education, which gives me the ability to immigrate legally to almost any country without much hassle. Not everyone is that lucky and it would be unfair for me to expect them to stay where they are simply because they didn't have the luck I did.
Are you a legal immigrant? Then you’re fine!
I may be overreacting, but I am seriously having second thoughts about trying for our first kid
Makes no sense why not have the kid in India? Why does it matter which country you live in?
