I’ve only been lifting for 2 months on a beginner LP program and am at about 400 lbs total for S/B/D. I’m aiming to join the 1000 Pound Club within the next few months or at least by the end of the year. Just curious to see where the other lifters here stack up and if y’all have any advice for beginners. I record every single set and get my experienced friends to critique my form so I don’t end up in snap city, so technique is the #1 focus right now.
You’re expecting to go from 400 to 1000 in a few months? End of the year maybeeee due to beginner gains but a few months isn’t realistic
Ah got it. I’m okay with reaching those numbers even at the end of the year. Gotta keep grinding.
That’s a good way to get permanently injured
As someone who at their peak was in the “795lb” club (if I quickly add up my best lifts, never called it that lmao), you have a noble goal of trying to reach 1k but it’s not going to happen in 3mo or even a year.
I’m assuming your at a roughly: S: 135 D: 165 B: 100 And planning on hitting roughly: S: 335 D: 430 B: 235 In the next few months to a year? Not happening. I don’t want to discourage you but that’s just not realistic.
Thanks for the perspective. Will try to be more realistic for sure.
My peak was pretty close to the 1000lb club, took about 2 years with high school level hormones. Even then you don’t want to rush it, you’ll gain strength pretty quickly as a noob regardless. It shouldn’t take long to hit S: 225 D: 275 B: 185 (almost 700 total), those last 300lbs will definitely not be as quick.
Just enjoy lifting don’t worry about how much. I just did the math and apparently I am indeed in this 1k lb club but took me like maybe 3 yrs?
You need to increase by 150% and you expect that to take a year? That will only happen if your current numbers aren't actual 1RM (never maxed out) or if you do lots of steroids... I would say you should probably expect something like 2-3 years to be realistic. Good luck, lifting is so much fucking fun but progress is slow.
1200+ Here 💪🏾💪🏾 Squat: 525lbs Deadlift: 400lbs Bench Press: 315 6’2, 288 lbs
What's the reason for having a monster squat but a very average deadlift? For most people DL > squat but you're significantly stronger in the squat.... Why?
Squat has always been my favorite lift, so I over-trained it a bit. (Even ran Smolov a few years ago) As for DL, I pulled a muscle in my back at the end of 2017 trying to go for for a new PR—while knowing that my DL form had been trash. So I decided to go all the way back down to 200 and work my way up with much improved form. I’d like to get DL and Squat to 600 someday, but I’m in no rush. Do it right, and save the body. Also, losing weight while trying to build strength is HARD. Was 325, and am aiming to get down to about 240 while preserving my muscle.
Squat: 335 Deadlift: 495 Bench: 300 Squat weak :(
Jeez. How long have you been training?
I got to there within a year now I’m just chillin. But i was very active in high school and I have some freak genetics so don’t use me as an example. I train Muay Thai now so I don’t care for stronglifts too much anymore. I had the most success doing SS followed by PHUL and PHAT.
I’m part of the herniated disc free club tho.
I'm afraid I do not yet weigh 1000lbs
