If you work at msft do you get discount on the Xbox ? It is 500$ !! So asking !
We do get 50% off games, accessories, and Xbox Live. Consoles have a low margin, which is why we don’t get a bigger discount. You have to imagine giving 120,000 people a discount on something and balance that against losing money.
Apple gives fantastic discounts on their products. I understand the Xbox since it's likely selling close to cost. But what about the Surface? Or any other hardware. The price in the company store is often times higher than what's even on Amazon.
Last I heard Apple employee discount is very different. You get different discount over different period of time. E.g. You can buy one hero product (iPhone, MacBook Pro) at deep discount every 3 years. So it's not like you can just go out and grab 10 iPhone X as holiday gifts any time you want. Microsoft gives you $1k limit every year but no product limit. Hence it's like orange and apple comparison here
Games and software we get very cheap but consoles not really.
We get a better hardware discount flashing the badge at an Apple Store. I kid you not.
If you are an intern then you get a free Xbox
That doesn’t happen all the time. I was intern in January 2014 and XBox One was recently shipped. We were expecting to get one but only thing we got was a surface 1 pro. I still use it though :)
I don’t work there but I’ve been to the company store. The discounts are usually only 5-10% and carry a very large non compete clause. You can get better deals through regular retail channels imo (and be able to write side projects).
Microsoft Retail gets 25% off.
Not yet, but typically we get ~$25 off consoles. Really not worth it. Often the prices are lower at retailers when they have specials.
