I'm an agency recruiter with 4YOE as a senior technical recruiter. Interested in lead recruiting roles at FAANG.

Looking for insight into TC, WLB, KPI's and remote work. Wondering what it looks like on the corporate recruitment side.

Love working with diverse local, national and international tech companies in my current role and wondering if the grass is greener on the other side.

TC: $200k
YOE: 4

Ha! Like they're going to tell me what they make. Plus, LinkedIn is for rookies.

Coming from an agency to top tech company in house with 4 YOE might not translate to a senior position. There are a lot of nuances in corporate recruiting (especially at a FANNG) that you just don’t really get exposure to at an agency. Crossfunctional work between internal stakeholders, project management, process improvements etc. it’s a mindset shift with a lot more influence over hiring best practices.

You will be able to do a lot of the core functions of the recruiting role and know how to grind, but from my experience, senior level hires always have in-house exp.

That's a great perspective. I have heard there's more collaboration in corporate recruitment. We may even get to talk to hiring managers on what they really want. Lol.

You have 4 years total of Recruiting experience, or more than that with 4 years being Senior level specifically? Why a lead role and not a Senior role? Many “Lead roles” are just senior roles with a good sales pitch attached.

I had 4 years of agency experience in Tech (almost half at Senior level) and got hired in at Mid level for 162.5k TC. Senior level TC is around 200k or so. 140k-150k base, 20% bonus, 25k-30k per year in stock with excellent benefits and PTO.

KPIs aren’t hard to hit if you come from being a good recruiter at an agency. You don’t always have control of your workload though. I find myself having similar WLB, maybe slightly better in Tech as opposed to Agency. I have spent more nights up late working but also more days where I didn’t work, had off or barely worked. Total WFH flexibility as well.

All in all, I would say the grass is in fact greener on this side, as least usually. I find there is more team camaraderie in Tech and you get to be an expert, instead of a shark swimming in pond with other sharks. There is more pride working for a top tech company than an agency as well. Even if you are making 150k-200k+, you will end up better off at a Tech company than an agency. If you are one of the very few making 300k+ you will likely be better off staying still.

4 years agency experience as I fell into recruiting with 10+ years in sales, marketing, ecommerce and development. I've been given the option to move into a lead, senior or even management role. I'm at $200k at the moment.
