I submitted doctor's letter and still denied. Escalated to HR no response. What to do? SDE2, Seattle, 8 YOE
Would recommend switching teams before the manager puts on a devlist
It's called Insist on the Highest Standards. They want you to do more with less health. Anyway you're going to get PIP, keep everything in writing and ask for more severance, or tell them you will go to an attorney.
Another reason to not join Amazon!
I worked in Bangalore India where it was horrible work culture. Now whole bay area tech culture looks like the same
It really isn’t all of Bay Area, only Amazon has this level of bullshit.
Lot of people from Bangalore moved internally it seems
That’s lame. Sick time should be given, no questions asked. If there’s an employee abusing sick leave, only then should it ever be brought up
How much time did you aak for?
Take the time off anyways to care for your health. Handle any repercussions later.
Just take your time off. If they retaliate they’re putting themselves at huge legal risk.
Congrats OP, you hit the jackpot. Get a lawyer so you can cash in.
Seriously. If in CA - sue the hell out of them! Why is this even a question? Screenshot the messages, original sent mail, FWD everything to a lawyer and cash in.
Not just CA, anywhere in America. We have labor laws in America. Don't let Amazon treat our labor laws like a joke.
Another scary Amazon story Sorry to hear that.. could you reach out to skip level for help or discuss the matter with more tenured colleagues?
I did ping my skip manager asking for five minutes of his time to chat about my leave request. He did not reply. Message was marked as read. Instead, my manager pinged me saying "why did you sent a message to skip manager when I am here." So, I am not sure if skip manager wants to hear me out.
