I heard the average annual salary with 4 year bachelor's degree in Taiwan is 10k~15k. I think the salary is fucking low compared to the cost of living in Taiwan. Look at the receipt that I got from Costco today. 1. UnderArmor T shirts 2. 6x Socks 3. 6x Calvin Klein men's underwear 4. Whey protein powder 2.04kg Total is 4,345 Taiwan dollars Around 147 USD. How can Taiwanese survive here??
Maybe they all donât buy CK undies ? CK is expensive in Asia. Just like you canât afford to buy 6* Armani/Versace undies as they cost $100-150 each. Travel more and come out of the cocoon my friend !
It's more like 25k for 4 year bachelor degree. And the cost of living for food, transport etc is cheap. You're talking about brand name stuff. Lots of them buy the off brand cheap stuff or fakes.
Salary in Taiwan has been about the same for the past 25 years.
9 dollars at the department store. +water ( 1 dollar)
That's cuz you got ripped. I can buy a chriashi bowl that costs $25 in the us for $10 there. I can get full in a day off $10 USD. Spending $9 on a meal is because you don't know where to go and how to eat. the locals know where they need to go
But are you dumb and ugly like me?
People living a hard life there
Food and transportation is so incredibly cheap. Costco is considered a bit expensive. Honestly just talk to any young person - they may be shy to speak English but generally speaking students have 12 hour class days. Theyâll go to English school at night. People are friendly - youâll be fine đđŒ just be careful at the nightmarket. Iâm American Taiwanese and theyâve tried to pull one on me đ enjoy your time!
I'm not also that good at English either. I was born and raised in Korea. Although I speak English better than them, I am shy to speak English to them cuz I look like them but can't speak Mandarin at all.
Judging by your response, youâre English is great! A lot of times theyâre excited to practice English with a non Taiwanese person, especially Americans. Donât by shy approaching them - just say xie xie (thank you) in Mandarin, theyâll appreciate that! Are you in Taipei? Navigating around the city is super easy. Keep in touch if you have any Qs
ask 'President' Tsai . around 2000s, new grad salary is already 15k. no increase during this 20 yrs, talent people moved to US, than China.
Is Costco seen as a luxury in Taiwan? The price definitely seems like a luxury store proportional to the average salary you stated
