I recently applied to the AOM program at IBM and I would like to chat with someone to find out more about the program and also to get a rough idea of how long it usually takes em to get back to someone. I'm currently a senior business analyst but I don't come from a CS background so I'm hoping that doesn't hurt me too much. Have had a good amount of project management experience, brief exposure to working on a product development team on a stretch assignment and well versed in common agile tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.) I would love to chat with someone to pick their brain on the position. Thank you! #pm #product #productmanager
Last I checked they were pretty understaffed on the recruiting side and in the end have something like a 1% acceptance rate so I would not imagine it happens all that quickly. Imo referrals only help if the person referring is an alum of the program, does more than just submit it in the system, has been successful at IBM since going through it, and has a professional relationship with the applicant. That and ex-interns. If you get an interview have a great answer for "why IBM" like really really think about it and have a solid answer. You get a full 6-12wks of training in this program and they're not excited about spending that training money then people bounce in 2 yrs. Best of luck π
Thank you for chiming in!
what I can tell you is that there is luck required to get into the program. even referrals may not help. I referred the son of the engineering manager on my team and even he didn't get the role it is competitive with that said, a non tech background is ok. I think 70-80% of the aom class is non technical
