I took the autism spectrum quotient test and I scored a 27/50. Apparently scoring a 32+ is a high indicator of autism. wtf do I do now. Should I actually get a real diagnoses from a doctor? This is the referred to test: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism-spectrum_quotient TC: $320k YOE: 4
I bet more than half of the tech industry is legitimately autistic.
Wouldn't surprise me. There's a reason for the "engineers are bad at dealing with people" stereotype.
I agree. Those that have autism probably have high functioning autism
Oh, look, a shitty coworker/future pos manager. You should consider working at Waste Management. I hear they have a lot of open positions for trash.
Whoa, what? Easy tiger. My point is that this alleged disability is also a gift.

Lol. I just scored 30 https://psychology-tools.com/test/autism-spectrum-quotient/score

Nice, ecoli.
Lol i got a 26… i’m not autistic?
Sperg, apparently. I don't think this test is too accurate tbf
I scored 31 and my therapist told me I am most likely to be in the spectrum. And it’s up to me to get it tested. I did not test it but it made me feel good to know I am autistic. All my life I struggled to understand social cues and always were an outlier. I never understood why, and I was trying to change myself to a ‘better’ person. But now I don’t think I am bad, I think I am just different and it’s ok to be different.
Thanks for sharing. I recently had an assessment and I'm waiting for the results. I resonate with your struggles and in my case I think I may have done a great job at masking so that I could fit in. I recall a few times in my younger years saying to friends that maybe there's something there and when I brought up aspergers or autism they were like, " not you! You're so social and conversational..." unbeknownst to them I listened more than talked and had developed a pattern/rules for speaking with people. It's only in hindsight so I realize how isolated and misunderstood I felt. I just kept my world to myself. I'm still waiting on the results so I'm trying not to project an outcome.
Update: Just had my feedback session and it's confirmed I am autistic. High functioning highly intelligent. I'm going to read the full report and so sit with this news. I literally just ended that feedback session.
A diagnosis might help you understand yourself and others better. It might help you navigate relationships. It might help you understand the best way for you to deal with challenges. Neurodiversity is not a bad thing and many people on the spectrum go on to live full lives without knowing they were on the spectrum. Knowing how you process and express things will help you more than anyone else — I’d say this is true for everyone.
Agree, knowing that I am autistic helps. I try to have more clear conversations now, reducing repetition. I used to feel why others don’t understand me, now I know why so k do a better job. Being a Solution architect it’s difficult if my stake holders don’t understand me 😂

If you think you might be autistic, definitely go to a doctor and get tested. ASD, ADHD and similar conditions coexist oftentimes and if they're making it difficult for you to go through life, it would certainly help to have a diagnosis and treatment (therapy/medication, etc.).
On the other hand. If it is not difficult, then don't give a flying eff what label people decide to put on things so they can justify all the excuses for not succeeding or reasons they are victims .
Yeah, labels are not the point. It's also not right to use Autism or any other conditions as an excuse for bad behaviour or lack of success. That doesn't discount the fact that some people truly do suffer. Not saying the OP might be one such person, but I'd rather not go about assuming everyone saying they might be autistic is trying to make an excuse for poor performance/suffering.
