Life is just absolutely brutal as a Software Engineer / App Developer from India working with Body Shops on an H1B Visa. I’m at a stage where I’m feeling like my career is stagnating, not doing well financially, low periods of ‘reasonable peace’ where I’m not a) Interviewing with idiot recruiters for the next contract gig. B) moving from one city to another, losing a crap load of money in moving expenses and lease breakage costs c) This weird feeling of background stress when visa extension, LCA amendment, visa stamping or other stupid immigration related hoops. Any others like me here who could share experiences or give advice?
Get a full time job in a large company. Once there is stability prepare and get a better job
This is what I’ll try to do now. Starting the Leetcode grind.
Stop feeling things or compare. You're facing consequence s of your choices. Expecting America to make that better for you or feeling entitled to have better life without patience and willingness to abide by laws is just going to frustrate you moreover. Learn to be happy with things you can control or go all out to change it.
If this whole immigration is such a quality of life issue for you, why not do something to help your cause? There are many people who are calling up Representatives to seek support for HR 392 . This bill has enough support to obtain super majority in house (290+ ). It didn't get this support without people like you talking to their Congresswoman and seeking support. People take time off their work, fly to DC in their own money and knock doors of each congressional offices asking them to support bill. This is legal, and that's why they are doing it. They are supported by non profit, which has a lobbyist, who guides them to the right congressional offices. As someone else pointed out,. You can either keep complaining or you can stand up for yourself. Also note, if you join any group that supports immigrants, ask them about their lobbyist. If they have none, don't spend your time with them. Navigating hill without lobbyist is like a blind man helping you cross road. They will be clueless and have no insight on what to talk and what not to talk. Also donate. Nothing in US is free. Lobbyist cost money.

I’ve been considering it for a while, now. It might be better for me in the long term. The unfortunate thing is, I really like it here (beyond the $s) and internally I feel like an American born in India.
Wow. What a load $hit. Sorry to hear that you feel like an American being born in India. If you talking about the life style, and quality of life -- that I get it. That aside, my advice, go to EU. It is far more hospitable to Indian expats than Trump's America
