Indian currency in bay area

I am traveling to India next week and I just realized that I have zero inr with me. I don't want to spend time at the airport forex stations and was wondering if someone knows anyplace in bay area where I can exchange some dollars for inr. I have tried chase and bank of America, they don't deal with inr.

Correct, but I have an expired debit card.

Your US debit card will work. Hopefully that’s not expired

Use US debit card in India. You will be charged $5 usd transaction fee and you can get indian rupees.

Fremont has SBI bank but you don’t need it. Any atm in india will work. Is it first time you are stepping outside US ?

Yes. Been to London though a couple of years back.

Check if your non Indian bank reimburses atm fees abroad. I have used the debit card from my credit union and they don’t charge currency conversion fee and also reimburse atm fees all over the world.

If you don't care too much about the exchange rate, currency exchange international will do home delivery or you can pick up in their offices. They have multiple in the bay area.

Just talked with them.i will go to them. Thanks. But the exchange rate is terrible but that's fine. Thanks once again.

I use wise.com - they give you a debit card and you can set up multiple currency accounts. The INR account you set up in it can be used to withdraw rupees.

Fidelity's free cash management account has no worldwide ATM fees. I've used it to withdraw money in India. Better exchange rates too. Uber, Ola allow use of foreign credit cards. If you have a visa or Mastercard without forex fees you can use it easily in India. You don't need to carry a lot of cash to India. Things are fairly digital friendly if you live close to the large metro cities or tourists places. Credit cards and debit cards with easily get you through.
