Want to know why do people go back if they do, or why don't they if they don't. Any experiences of people going back to India but returning to US/Canada again will be helpful too.
I'm currently in Bangalore for vacation. I wanted to like Bangalore, so that I can move back, but I can't. Traffic, infra and pollution is really bad.
Life was so well for me in US both from career and family. Suddenly lost one of my parents, that hit me really big time. So thinking of moving back. Still remember that moment when I got call about news and flew back emergency. I wish nobody has to go through stage.
Hope you are doing better now and sorry about the loss. Yes, my family is the only thing which keeps me attached and worried about moving back to India. They cared for me so much and they deserve me to be there for them during their old age.
Good boy/girl OP!!
I'm neither going to be in the US or go back to India. One is overrated and I have experienced enough of the other one.
Nice meeting you Mou. Where's your next job?
Nah, not moving back. My parents decided to move to Canada.
Do they like it? How old are they?
60+. It’s a big change for them but they got used to it. Moreover, we don’t have any relatives back in India, so it doesn’t make any sense for them to stay back.
Never settle. That's an imaginary concept to make you feel like you attained something.
No option for TC? I thought majority of Indians are chasing the TC
That's obvious, but money is the last thing I worry about given the cost of living difference between the India and US/Canada.
If money was the last thing. Indians would just move to Canada, they wouldn't bother with the visa stuff in the US. So money comes first for Indians, who are currently battling with green card in the US
NO, because of politicians like gaandu Modi and bhosadi ka Amit Shah.
You want some pappu. Don’t ya...
We are doomed. I am moving back in 3 weeks. In 2019 I thought probably keeping Modi is like jumping in well with hope there might be water there to save your soul. Pappu was like jumping from mountain where death is certain. Now I am clueless.
Why go back when here’s already another India
Too many visa issues in US are making me think hard. Plus need to be close to family in India. If I get GC today, I will stay in US. But looks like that could take 10-20 years 🙁

I have already done that. Went back to India, but ended up coming back.
What was the main reason?
Many reasons, all of which I can live with, even corruption. But what I cannot live with is that I am being made ineligible to apply for jobs because there is IIM/IIT as minimum degree need in job description. I recently completed FB PM Onsite in US. But heck in india, no recruiter / company cares to even talk to me. I tried a lot for over a year and then said, f***, I am going back ( in era of most H1B denials ) and I am going back ( after 2 RFEs ) and I am going back ( with 1 Denial) because someone out there is willing to bet on me and I can pass on that baton by betting on someone like me willing to try and I would love to give that opportunity for him / her!! Enough Said!
