I had an onsite this week. My first FAANG. I have a very bad feeling about it. My interviewers seemed unimpressed. For those of you more experienced in interviewing, are there signs that indicate that you’re doing a bad job? Here is what I perceived as indicators: - I finished solving the problems relatively quickly and ran out of things to add - Interviewer poking/asking “is there anything else that you might want to add?” (after which I did add more things, but like, I didn’t proactively mention them) - Interviewer not taking a lot of notes/not enthusiastic about note taking Did I mess up?
The interviewer stops asking follow up questions or the follow up questions get easier softball questions. Or the interviewer just keeps agreeing with you and telling you your answer was right.
Just assume the worst for now and be surprised if it comes back different.
The first bad sign is that you think you did badly. If you are not confident about yourself, kind of hard to expect other people to have confidence in you.
They ask you to button your shirt back up
And put your pants back on and jacket
You probably solved the problems so fast and your interviews had nothing left to ask.
Do you think that’s bad?
It's bad if there is a long pause of awkward silence and you can't fill the gap. It means you don't know how to carry a conversation forward.
Unenthusiastic interviewers are common, unfortunately. Some engineers do so many interviews they become numb to the process. I wouldn’t take that as a bad sign as long as you finished the problem within the time limit.
I think it's good to ask if you're not sure what they are looking for,I think I got docked for not asking enough clarifying questions
Jeez the misconceptions about FANG. Yeah we go to a training where they monitor our facial expressions because we have a lot of engineers and lack of better work

I haven’t done shit today!
If it's a phone screen, I will only end the interview before 1 hour is up if you're doing extraordinarily poorly.
We didn’t finish the interview early, in fact we had a lot to chat about during the questions part. However, I finished solving the problems relatively quickly, didn’t talk for as long as they seemed to be expecting me to. I wonder if that’s a bad sign/bad performance on my end.
Finishing the problem early is fine. I'll usually be impressed if the communication was clear throughout and it's evident you didn't solve it quickly just because you had already seen the problem before
