Info on AWS Aurora Team
Can anyone shed some light on working in AWS Aurora Team Palo Alto compared other AWS teams? This is for SDE I and II. Especially the DB UI team. Welcome any info like the quality of work we get to do, wlb, yoy hike/refresher, managers and leads, etc.
I have heard a lot of bad reviews esp about managers. Very egoistic for no reason. Too much politics (thatās always the case when you have desi managers and desi sr leaders) and bad WLB. Bright side is, aurora is one among the fastest growing and profitable orgs in AWS. But you can find better teams in amazon.
DB console? Absolute shit show, people who knows what they're doing are drowned in work and the rest hang around waiting to get PIPed. Which one do you rather be?
I too have offer from Aurora but Aurora Storage team, Palo Alto. Should I also run or storage team is fine?
They had major leadership change recently not sure how that affects engineers, if you're L5 or lower it's probably ok. WLB is very bad, for sure
Bad org! There are a lot of good teams in amazon and aurora is certainly not one among them. As someone said desi managers are running a shit show there. New joinees have 0 clue on what os happening and the old ones are there because they know what they do and have no intention to train others. You may be an excellent dev but cannot learn much here because of zero guidance and support from seniors..as soon as they know you are good..they try to suppress you to save their asses..and make the org more dependent on them...typical desi attitude

Also OP, I just got to know most of Aurora teams are new team. I am not sure who is gonna lead the project, managers are hired < 1 year, team has new hires to build team, don't know what's going on. I assumed since Aurora is mature product now shouldn't the team be old?!
