Information about getting into Amazon marketing
Looking for information about moving into amazon marketing. Salary? Qualifications? Interviews? Etc. I have 15 yrs mgr exp, 5 years marketing, have bachelors degree.
I agree with the above. Knowing people in marketing currently, it’s not a good department to go into. Many move around at Amazon to only land in the same situation, just different team. All of the marketing people I know the last month have worked upwards to 20 hours in one day (not fabricating this). It’s the time of year, but not worth it if you ask me. Marketing here is not traditional marketing and Amazon does not spend nearly enough budget on marketing efforts. You end up having to deal with a laughable “budget” and yield incredible results. They also under pay.... if you want your foot in the door at the company you can do that and then transfer to something different. That’s the only benefit I see.

Depending on what team and what kind of marketing, but they are going to overwork you. Right now you’d think high TC and the FAANG name is worth it, but it isn’t. With OP’s experience in retail, I bet they are talking about retail marketing team which is one of the worst. And they’ll probably lowball you with some L5/L6 role. If you want to work 12+ hours plus weekend (dark when you go to work and home) and even if it’s sunny you’ll be indoor. And never have time for anything other than work, and later on find out you were lowballed, and having endless work and horrible team dealing with politics and faking culture (trying to get MGR and skip to like you and get on their right side.) And have to take credits of others’. Risking your mental health. Give it a try and you’ll be going to other company at some point.
