My H1-B transfer got approved today and I am planning to quit this Friday. Since I am going to a competitor, I will be walked out immediately after I inform my manager. However, I have some awesome coworkers to whom I want to chat in person and let them know before I leave. Is it a good idea to let know of other people before informing my manager? If your answer is No, can you please comment on how to inform my colleagues? My mentor and a few other people deserve to be informed in person before I am walked out. I dont see a downside to it. I mean theyre going to walk u out either way.
Do not inform them unless you plan on getting walked out that day. From my experience at Microsoft, most people are good but there a few who would throw their mothers under the bus - and that includes you. Get their emails and/or LinkedIn info together before you leave and send them an email thanking them as soon as you get home. If, and only if, you trust your mentor - go ahead and tell them.
What made you think I'd throw my mother under a bus? It's a genuine question and I'm preparing for the worst possible scenario.
Yea, wtf adobe. Where did that come from?
Don’t tell your manager where you’re going and enjoy a pleasant two weeks notice. Two weeks is the perfect duration for goodbyes
You have a bachelors or a masters degree ?
Master's
What level at msft ? Did you join at new hire at msft ?
OP: can you please share your H1B transfer timeline . Receipt date and service center.
OP, normally when people leave MS for direct competitors like Google, the are asked to leave in two days. That was a few years ago. I don't know if things have changed since then.
Did you have competing offers?
Wow that's a nice offer
Where are you going? What's your total YOE? What's your base? More details first
