Lot of the automated infrastructure deployment in AWS that I see users discussing on various discussion boards are usually using bash or python scripts. I'm curious whether anyone here or their shop uses powershell to do the same?
Not trolling. I've been working on the combo of aws/powershell for the last year or so and I'd like to get an idea if this knowledge set is a niche thing or if this is a decently marketable skill. I'm new to this app so I'd appreciate the heads up if the topic/ discussion isn't pertinent here and needs to be moved to a different stream/channel.
It's just a strange question, that's all. Like asking if there is a market for serverless Fortan developers. You might want to learn about Ruby and Chef / Puppet if you're looking for marketable skills around automated configuration.
Powershell is not a desirable skill set.
Not even in a predominantly windows environment? Or 'Not desirable' as in there are other scripting or programming languages better suited for the job (automation) in a predominantly windows/Microsoft sql server environment?
The real question is why are you in a predominately windows environment, and how can you get out.
Since you want to market yourself to positions based on automation of infrastructure, I agree with others puppet chef are imp. I would add ansible. But in addition programming with python and go are also critical to provide the automation using play books from ansible or puppet
Can't tell if troll post or legitimate customer need...
