Facebookers, give us the skinny. Is this a real thing happening soon? Any details?
Heard it's Instagram live heading to SF.
Live is about 10 people. Most of IG's core product teams are moving.
Any word on when this is happening? Also, I read some article about fb leasing out a whole building
There's more to it than what Prez says I hear. 1- I spoke with a high up member of that team and he expects much larger than 100 to go, but that's the amount to start. 2- I have a friend in commercial real estate that said FB took the lease out on the entire building. They could rent that out to other tenants (like twitter did), but you usually wouldn't take a large space like that unless you wanted to have optionality on expansion. FB isn't going anywhere from menlo Park but I would expect a fairly large office in SF by EO2018
Google has a large SF presence but it's mostly sales, which makes sense given the high touch with clients. This isn't a sarcastic comment, but what's the value in splitting out the team? I work outside of CA, and having to travel all the way to MPK to then not have f2f meetings with IG is silly.
Probably multiple reasons, but I suspect one was to compete with Uber (and to a lesser extent Snapchat) for talent. The kids these days like short commutes and living in places like SF and Venice/Santa Monica over suburbs. I happen to feel the same. The decision to pull the trigger would have happened a year or two ago when those companies looked much more attractive as employers.
I heard Messenger & WhatsApp stories are also going to be sharing a space there
Is it the facemask team or what
March is what I heard when I asked about timeline

Small team, only 100 people. Being treated more like a test.
Yup. Can confirm, just ~100 Instagram folks.
