Intel is shutting down the last of the New Device Group. “Some” layoffs are expected.
One year ago, over 2,000 people worked in the New Device Group. After last year’s cuts, the remaining members have been working on smart glasses and AR. Now the company has fully exited the wearable and device businesses.

Good at making CPU chips - really? Years being on 10nm, every chip subject to Spectre and Meltdown, Apple dumping Intel ... are you sure? What happens when we cannot even get CPUs done right?

I worked in NDG for a bit. The glasses were/are pretty incredible and could support many important use cases. The problem, as I see it, is that Intel isn't in a position to be a disruptor in whatever industry they are throwing at the wall. If something sticks like drone light shows, then that's what they work with. Anything interesting and novel? Forget it.
