How is intel as a company for software engineers? Is it in the same league as the Big 4 or faang such as google, amazon etc? Also how is the compensation and difficulty of interviews? Im a sde 2 at Amazon with a TC of 200k. I live in phoenix arizona area and here Intel has a very big office in chandler(suburb of phoenix). So ive recently been wondering if i want to switch to a different tech company in future if Intel would be a good choice? Will intel match my pay of Amazon or should i expect a pay cut in salary?
Not recommended.
Avoid completely.
Really? Can you guys give more info
It’s a trade off. Lower Tcomp, better work/life balance than FANG, etc. Depends on what your goals are.
If you are a software engineer stay away from Intel
Sux. Stay away. Although if you're Indian, good at politics and ass kissing you could climb the corporate ladder and earn money. Otherwise you'll be miserable like most of us. Low pay, low rsu, low raises, low bonuses, low enthusiasm, low relevance no matter how skilled you are.
Lol what does being indian has to do with anything
They pretty much own the place and ruined it with nepotism. Explains why soon tsmc and samsung will be overtaking them in terms of technology...they already lost the spot of largest chip manufacturer.
Intel internally is stuck in the 90s tech and process wise. Do not expect to work on anything new, modern or groundbreaking software wise. Do not expect good raises or promotions. Do not even expect good w/l balance, as that is no longer a given for Intel anymore in my experience. Pay is shit, projects are shit, they are desperate to survive, so they are cutting, merging and chopping anything they can, which has made the moral of all employees go through the floor and all the good employees leave to be valued better elsewhere. All that’s left at Intel are people who can’t find a better job outside and URMs who couldn’t make it in/into FANG. Stay far away. Working for Intel was the worst mistake of my professional career.
Going from Amazon to Intel seems like a step down, unless you’re getting a much bigger title/leadership role. As a lateral move, I can’t think of any reason to do it besides a need for better work/life balance.
