My current total comp at Broadcom is $250K. Intel is about to give me an offer in Boston. What to expect in their offer for a grade 8? The biggest part of my comp at Broadcom that I’d be leaving behind is the RSUs. I have a MS degree and 18 years of experience.
Wow. Got G8 offer, 3 YOE and phd.
G8 top band is ~$180k. Expect ~$30k bonus (at least) and 30k RSU. And ~8k in profit sharing if you wanna include that. So TC should be very close.
30K RSU per year or over 4 years? I the latter, then it wouldn’t be close to my current annual tcomp.
Over 4 years. But you get RSU refresh each year. So on the 4th year, you get the full amount. Also I forgot to mention, you get 8% geo with G8 as well.
Intel RSU is 4 years. Let me know if they match your current RSU
Honestly I doubt they would. The only companies that can match or beat that are Qualcomm, Apple, NXP and Google in chip industry. But I think they can compensate for it in other ways. I had an offer from AMD a couple of years ago. They compensated for it by giving a huge sign on bonus that required to stay with them for 3 years. But even then, I did the math and the TC was short by $10K.
Ok, here’s what they’ve offered: They put me in G9. Base $170K, APB $25K based on a 3X multiplier Quarterly bonus of $10K for the whole year RSU of $30K over 4 years And a sign-on bonus of $30K So TC for the first year is roughly $243K which is still short $7K from my current TC.
Are you taking it?
I am seriously thinking about it. I’ve asked for more RSU. Let’s see what they’ll do. The thing is Broadcom is in bad shape after the failure to acquire Qualcomm. Layoffs are imminent. And the stock is crashing to top it up. And the work environment is horrible under Hock Tan regime. It’s not the same BRCM as it used to be. The workload is brutal and they dump more work on you every time a coworker is laid off. We lost a lot of benefits too.
Ok, they’ve revised the offer after I complained about the crappy relocation allowance: G9 Base $170K, APB $25K based on a 3X multiplier Quarterly bonus of $10K for the whole year RSU of $50K over 4 years And a sign-on bonus of $35K Relocation lump-sum $9800 Now TC is a bit higher than my current one just for year 1. It’ll drop for year 2 but for year 3, I’ll have new RSUs added on top. Now it’s a serious offer.
Let’s see if intel matches that Intel g8 is a lot less tcomp
It will be a lot less
