Currently with non-OCI team with no raise,no stock,no bonus in NH
Internal offer to OCI, with 10k raise with no stock. Location is open current or relocation to CA, or TX.
On H1 visa & requires new GC.
Should I take it or not?
If ok, current location or other location?
What r the pros/cons of relocating and new GC Process and H1 extension approvals etc.,

      Hey, I am definitely not holding h1 as excuse but I am not seeing such opportunities,may be it's just me due to location or job search methods etc.,

      Actually H1 is not locked down up on in bay area and Seattle but lot of other cities actually dont want to deal with having to go though government imposed regulations of posting position for so many days and having interviewed x number of candidates before moving forward with H1. I know this was the case for one of large employer I was with in midwest about 2 years ago. We had good referral for H1 candidate and HR would not allow it.

    What team are you moving from? I would recommend external offers. $10k more would make you miserable if you went to CA. Most companies would not hesitate to throw over $200k for 16 yoe.

      How about moving to TX or NC? Good for that money , but my concern is the job opportunities in TX or NC and H1B extension approvals from those states?

    I wouldn't do it for a 10k raise, unless you are not happy in your current team. Oracle is actually underpaying you, hence the raise. Even in non-oci team the offer for someone with 16yoe (principal level) is way higher than 130k.

      I disagree. This is not due to h1. Oracle doesn't give much raise, so the longer you stay at the company, the further your pay goes below the new hires at the same level.

      Tons of non OCI h1 people here in bayarea make way more than 150k, including me. Granted, most of us joined the company fair recently, which is not surprising that staying in a company for a long term usually means underpaid in our industry. OP, if you are in a denial mode, guess we can not wake up a person who is pretending to be asleep. It's time to move on.

    Depends what group you are in. If you aren't happy with the work you're doing or you're worried about layoffs then go for it. Ideally you would make an external move to get am actual pay raise, but if you're not willing to put in the time required to prep and interview for another job it's understandable.

    Also there are no oci teams in east coast that I know of, so are they letting you work remotely? I would be weary of non Seattle oci teams.

      CA OCI is fine contrary to what above post says. Lot of new work in deeper data domains happening there. Seattle OCI is mostly control plane. I am from Seattle OCI.

      So there were/are some OCI teams in the Manchester, NH office (Dyn acquisition). Mostly focused around DNS. Unclear as to what the future is for them though.
