Say I work as HWE on H1 at the moment and I want to transfer out to a SWE team in the same company. This is assuming my manager is informed and aware of this. 1. If my transfer gets rejected can I still work in my old team like nothing happened? 2. What happens if my transfer is approved but the H1 extension is rejected because my Master's degree isn't in CS/I don't have enough background to justify working in a software role? 3. How good/supportive are the big tech companies with internal transfers in general? I understand most hiring managers will still require full interviews even though you are an internal candidate but how helpful is the immigration team etc. Case in point: say my H1 extension gets rejected a year from when I joined a SW team will they still relocate me to a different country in a different SWE team or just cut ties altogether. I am ok going back to my home country permanently as well. 4. Are there any companies that let you work with other teams temporarily while on a H1? Say 75% time on your baseline hardware engineering and 25% time with another team in Software/ML/different HWE team. Thanks!
