Hello Amazonians, I am currently a Product Manager in my profile, and i have received a call from Amazon for a TPM role- Technical Program Manager- I have few questions regarding same- Note- The PM role I am into it is more of owning and driving the products. 1- what is the difference between a TPM role and a technical Product Manager role at Amazon? is it similiar and just title change? 2- they have asked me as a first step to submit an Online Assessment for a TPM role which is new to me? if so, what kind of questions do they ask in OA and is it timed and if there are any good resource for it? any help would be appreciated.
My friend, program management and product management are so far apart. One is right brain thinking and the other is left. one delivers value to the business the other delivers value to a customer.
Yes,agreed. I want to understand basically how is it defined in Amazon, I know in Microsoft also product manager are nothing but program manager, every company has different title.
Amzn treats it as I described above. Sometimes duties overlap at Sr product manager level due to the nature of working across products, which naturally requires some "program" work, but it's still very much vision and strategy, program is very much tactics And logisticz
