So, at an Interview with a XXX company, about 2 years ago, I was posed with this question. What is a good strategy to achieve text-data compression with loss-less uncompression on either side of the Http.Post or Http.Get request and response? As in, basic bare bones compression so small that all of the text could fit into just one network packet? I am aware of encoding and encrypting text-data which is what Base-64 and SSL/TLS are all about, but compression was something I had never heard of, other than application/gzip content-type response headers. Any pointers? YOE - 15 Java, includes 8 Android.

Anymore strategies, algorithms? As much loss-less compression as possible, so data is never lost?
Look for the algorithms they use. Gzip has several levels as far as I know. Ball in your side, I gave starting point
