Hi all, I am currently a tpm from a non-FANG company, and in a week will be interviewing on-site for a sr. Tpm role at the Alexa science team in Pittsburgh. I am wondering if anyone can shed some lights on the technical part - would it be more focus on the traditional system design/distributed system questions, or more on machine leaning and/or speech technology like ASR/NLU? Also would there be coding/algorithm questions? I only had one phone interview with another sr tpm and was moved forward to onsite. I was a bit surprised that the phone interviewer didn’t ask any tech question other than ‘describe a system you worked on’. Thanks in advance. Any inputs are appreciated!
Following up , can u elaborate on any questions asked.
I have a phone interview lined up and would really appreciate on what some questions were. I don't know what are they looking for to be specific but my first phone interview was light on technical side too. All the flashy system design was not part of it. Also the interviewer said "you don't need to know system design" for this role. There were only 2 questions in first round of interview which lasted 1 hour and started right away without any bs- 1. Tell me about a situation when you have influenced architecture? 2. How will you troubleshoot a problem (problem being - Alexa does not recognize male voice but does female voice in that language) with rolling out Alexa in a new language? Of course they went in a lot of details on both the questions
USCIS - how was your on site interview? Also if you do not mind answering how did you respond to question #2 ?
Did you got offer and joined? Can you share Alexa experience?

How was your interview? I’d love to know your experience?
Didn’t get the job, but the interview IMO went ok. Very typical TPM interview, and it is very light on the technical side. They mentioned that I didn’t make L6 but are interested in helping find a L5 role if I am interested in relocating, but I am not. I feel like it is a competition thing too, because right after my interview, the job posting was taken off. I assume that there were two or more competing for the job and right after my interview a decision was made, and the job didn’t go to me :)
