Saw a webinar earlier today. Wanted to check if the program is worth it or do you recommend leetcode / books (EPIs, Cracking the coding interview)
TC: 400k, missed giving this earlier
i personally went for it and was worth it, it will not magically make u excellent but will force u to prepare hard
Planning to interview for L7/M2 positions at FANG, wondering if it’s worth for higher levels or only for starting folks.
starting folks, design prep is not there strong asset
We have had several offers at L7/M2. But you have to talk to someone who has gone thru the program and into L7 at Google, FB, Uber, LI. These are rare enough that I'm not sure you will get enough picture in an anonymous forum. Note though, that interviews can rarely be used to change the level outside. Usually, the new company will make you an offer at the same level. (As you probably know, that gets decided even before the interview) Unless of course, you play the cards in a very timely manner, where you get multiple offers and some are at next level, the group hiring has an acute need etc. What you need for L7, is validation from other L7s who can conclusively say whether you're there or not. That is the value at IK.
Primarily looking for more practice on System Design questions
There’s a course on educative on System Design which is good I heard. A friend is doing Interview Kickstarter and he still mentioned that course is better.
Educative course is good for basics. Not for someone who is experienced.
Have you checked out PracticeCodingInterview.com? They have system design focused mock interviews. I think Pramp.com does too?
The course at Educative seems to be pretty informative. Going through it now.
Omkar's series is the highlight of the IK program. Unfortunately they stopped that series. Anyone interested to join should ask whether they will continue series or not. Without Omkar's series it's not worth.
My experience with IK is average at best. The only great thing about the boot camp is Omkar ( he is a great teacher). Otherwise, the course is average at best. Not worth the amount unless 6k isn’t a lot of money for you.
Found a pretty bad review online and decided against it. Something along the lines of all of the people fill the 1 on 1 slots very fast with instructors etc etc. it’s pretty dang pricey as well. I ended up going the self study route with leetcode premium/pramp/epi and I don’t have any regrets.
For a lot of reviews see our aggregated page: https://InterviewKickstart.com/reviews . This one was written by someone who had a massive mismatch of expectations going in. The question to be asked is - whether it is wise to decide something career-critical on one person's opinion, which could have also been entirely fake these days (positive or otherwise). No course is perfect for everyone and all courses are perfect for some audience. The task is to find out exactly what is offered and if you're the audience that will benefit from it. That usually needs research and talking first-hand, when the stakes are high, like one's career. IK or no IK, I wish you find the thing that works for you.
