I'm a Staff at LinkedIn promoted recently with a cliff fast approach this year. The promotion refresh was peanuts. The timing of my cliff and the covid situation is unfortunate. Should I stay and suffer the cliff waiting for opportunities to come back up? I'm in a dilemma right now. Companies I want to target at a L5/L6 level Google, Netflix, Lyft and a few startups. 500+ TC. TC 420K before cliff. Yoe 15
What was ur refresh amount and how much of a drop in TC are you going to have? Just wait it out and see where things settle down across all tech companies. Right now is not the time to move, seriously
TC will go below 400. Can't reveal more. Waiting seems like the best bet right now. I'm worried that when the economy opens back up, there will be a flood of candidates and companies can get anally over selective. And l'll continue to bleed from the cliff jump.
Did u mention the cliff to ur manager?
Isn't 420 for senior really high?
yes U can. Just got a 400+ offer from one of the big names. i am a senior facing cliff this year too
Why would you hit a cliff if you were promoted. I thought promotion comes with a stock grant ?
Wait. Among the companies you listed above only Netflix is the one the could be hiring. Google is on a hiring freeze and so is lyft to the best of my knowledge. You may get job at say Fb but with no competing offers so you wont be able to maximize TC.
Inclined towards waiting. FB has great TC but would be my last choice.
