Had an interview at stripe, and one question that stumped me was: "If your hiring manager had mostly white males on their team and you were about to place another white male, and they were happy, would you pump the brakes on the placement for diversity's sake?" Anyone at Stripe recruiting know the accepted answer for that?
No, recruiting interview
Not a recruiter but I would suggest looking at the demographics of the role in the industry and the demographics of the applicants for the job to see if there is bias at the hiring step.
This isn't a question about whether there's bias or not, this is a question about the "correct" answer to a stock question
I think the correct answer is to look elsewhere for a job and stay as far away from this sickness as possible.
Fair enough, but it's hard to get away from that in recruiting
You can “pump the brakes” only after you have enough data to show that somehow only white males are clearing the interview bar for that team. If you as a recruiter didn’t put in enough effort to go the extra distance and find diversity candidates who might be equally talented, then you’ve failed the company’s diversity policies. That effort is what they’re looking for.
Wtf! Was this asked for a tech interview?
