Interviewed at FB, Job in LinkedIn no longer accepting applications

Recently did an onsite at Facebook. Recruiter called me late Friday afternoon (4 days after onsite). I did not pick up the call, but realized only later in the evening he called me and it was too late to call back. In the mean time, I went and checked on LinkedIn about the Job I was targeted for and noticed they are no longer accepting applications. I guess from the above, somebody else has accepted and I did not make it. Has anybody else faced a similar situation. Thoughts please.
