I've seen on numerous instances that unsuitable people got hired who doesn't even have basic understanding of the project they are working on. Now surprisingly they are also good looking. My observation lies in Product Managers, Business Analyst and other product related roles. I can't help but wonder is there a correlation between looks and passing interviews? To all those people in interview committee, 1. Does good looks affect your judgement for go/no-go subconsciously? 2. Do you ever regret your decision later on after hiring such candidates?
Somewhat. It's a known fact that if you're good looking you'll get ahead in life but you shouldn't merely depend on that
Speaking just for tech departments I’ve worked in, the technical teams are pretty non-biased to hotties, maybe even skeptical of good looks lmao. Marketing is probably very different though.
Related to looks: I wish interviewers would put more emphasis on table manners and personal hygiene. My coworkers all chew with their mouths open and often go days without washing their hair, it’s really obnoxious, especially when you’re crammed in next to them 8+ hours a day. But then that would eliminate so many programmers 🤷♀️
I think for software engineer good looks is a negative point as others think that you spent lot of time in grooming yourself
Well you need to be good looking to have a job right
Looks don't matter to me when I am hiring.
A lot. If someone looks like a hobo or smells bad I automatically fail them. Why would I want to work with someone like that everyday? Usually if the candidate is a girl I lower the bar. Sorry not sorry. Interviewing is about picturing yourself working with someone for a few years.
Girls are much easier to get in high tech, it’s an URM issue. I believe Facebook also has many diversity trainings.
I definitely give higher interview ratings to hot girls, regardless of their performance
I don’t care how ugly you are as long as you know the answer of some questions, and prove your tech skills
Committee wouldn't know how they look right? 😂😂
There is something called Face to Face Interviews. Ain't that happen at Snap? Because that's irony for a company who puts filters on faces
Well you know at some companies committees do not involve interviewers.
