Can you share the biggest red flags you notice when interviewing candidates ? Some examples
That can't be a real person.. 😂
Maybe not a red flag per se but for behavioral interviews, when candidates give vague general answers in response to a question about how they handled a situation. The interviewer is looking for concrete examples, even if they’re small projects that are not that impressive. Candidates often try to talk about the biggest project/product they’ve worked on and you can tell they were not that involved
I'd say interested in growth opportunities right away or talking about lateral movement. We usually want someone to be in the role for two years. One to ramp up and one to be efficient.
There are many. 1. Disorganized thought, or unstructured thinking. 2. Lack of creativity. 3. Ignoring questions / prompts 4. Not asking questions. Or asking questions and not using the new information to inform thoughts. 5. Telling me that they’ve heard that we downlevel, and that they are “at least a director anywhere” 6. Stories for G&L that are clearly fabrications. 7. Lack of metrics in analytical process. 8. Inability to confidently make clear assumptions. Etc…
Part of the job as an interviewer is to connect with the person being interviewed. A big red flag I heard was from the younger generation who get comfortable and try and connect back by telling you things that are inappropriate behaviors. I worked for a travel company and asked a potential intern their favorite place they've been, and continued asking questions like a friend would. Their favorite memory from the trip was mimicking a disabled man's walk because they thought it was funny.
Wow
Let me guess, they posted it on TikTok and got a bunch of likes?
