Looks like I'll be interviewing for a technology solution professional role soon. Any tips or pointers? I've actually been out of the MS space for a few years working on AWS. Would that be an issue?
Nah you should just have a passable understanding of the azure stack and how it maps back to aws and you should be fine.
Thanks! I have that for sure. Just haven't been doing a ton of stuff on azure. Lots on Sharepoint.
Yea, I worked on AWS at Amazon, and it was received extremely positively here. In fact, there are tons of folks that I work with that were previously on AWS. As we're moving more towards solution selling, I think it will only be received better. I'd just try to have a basic understanding at least of the handful of azure alternatives
There are often pointers in the problems they ask you (usually linked list problems, binary search trees, etc).
I know of several CSAs that have been hired because of their AWS knowledge, so it's a bonus. Do some homework and map the core capabilities to Azure and you should do well. @crab is unfortunately right. But also wrong. We definitely have some useless dead wood but we also have some excellence. Your MS experience (customer or employee) is all about which you get. May the odds be in your favor.
tell them you went to the same school as Saty a
Thumb up a butt. You'll instantly be hired.
Jesus! The amount of hatred against Microsoft is astounding. I came from Amazon and would pick Microsoft over Amazon anyday. Azure is awesome!!
I don't hate Microsoft. I hope to work there someday. But everyone knows a little thumb-in-the-butt action goes a long way.

For an Azure TSP role, you would want to show that you have the ability to ramp quickly on technology, have a good understanding of cloud (which I'm sure you do) and are comfortable in front of customers. You will not necessarily need to know Azure in advance, but demonstrate that you put some time in prior to interview to show your aptitude. You still want to have infrastructure fundamentals locked down in general, since they are similar between AWS and Azure (and on-prem, for that matter). In general, your AWS experience should be a plus and move you to the front of the interview line.
Listen carefully to what you're being asked and clarify if you're unsure. Asking a vague question is common regardless of role.
Yea, that was super helpful for op. Your wit seems to know no bounds. I hope it helps you sell more bladder control devices.
And your original response wasn't meant to trigger people? Well, congrats it did. I was trying to make it less vitriolic, but I'll add color back. I'd prefer working here and Amazon anyday to telling people that I work in bothell selling diagnostic medical equipment while commenting on posts about actual technology companies. GL with Google, brah.
