Interviewing for FB MPK, but want Boston
I'm interviewing for a SWE role with Facebook for their Menlo Park HQ. Recruiter currently says that Boston roles are unavailable/unlikely. If I get an offer, is there any chance I can get the offer converted for Boston? How should I go about it? #facebook #relocation #negotiateoffer #boston
Answer is no, if you interview for MPK you are allocated to MPK and can’t even go to Seattle before your 1yr transfer eligibility.
Wow I'm kind of surprised. If I got an offer, and told them I will decline if they can't put me in Boston, would they really just lose a candidate because of allocation (let's assume there is an opening in Boston)?

Doesn’t hurt to ask. FB is pretty crowded in MPK. Some teams are moving to other offices in the region. Many teams also have goals to grow in other offices like Boston, Seattle and London.
In case anyone finds themselves in this boat, I did receive an offer and was able to convert it to Boston. It is possible!

Where you able to move your offer location to Boston?
Swap teams internally if you find a position in Boston. I believe you can do that after 6months of joining.
