There are safeguards to prevent things from going off the rails (e.g., teams in conflict over a candidate, candidates pitching one team’s offer against another, recruiters or HMs unaware of hiring progress on the competing role, competing written offers).
I wouldn’t worry about it. The safeguards protect you from jeopardizing your candidacy. Just focus on doing well.
You would also be levelled at the same level for both roles, even though you had not interviewed with the second team by then. The compensation numbers would be the same.
What i learnt that if you are interviewing with multiple teams within facebook, the recruiters would not want to keep you in a postion where you can negotiate the compensation by using the other’s offer as a leverage. Also, the recruiters want to maintain good camaraderie among their coworkers and not try to aggresively poach other’s candidate.
My 2 cent would be to interview for both postion with an open mind and an understanding that the comp would be the same. They only leverage you would have is the option to choose the team which would interest you the most.
has the offer already been made and you're at team-match?
