Hi all - how do the intuit job levels like Principal and Staff compare to the more common titles, like Director, Sr Director and VP? And what’s the pay scale for those levels? [I’m in Program Management / PMO space] Also -i’d appreciate a few words about the culture there, especially in theirs Mountain View Office.
The office location is just perfect, and you can rent nearby.
I cant speak to pmo levels, but design titles aren’t inflated. Principal is a high bar for craft and leadership and many people downlevel coming here. We interview “directors” for principal level and they don’t make the grade. Our directors should have 50 reports. A level down, Group manager has 20. I think we pay pretty close to fang and culture is better than anywhere else I’ve worked.
So Principal is higher level than Staff, and comparable to a director / senior director elsewhere (‘ish)?
We don’t have a staff level in design so I’m not entirely sure. But, I can say that personally, from my conversations with visa around a design director role, it would be more equivalent to principal. Also, we interviewed a visa director a couple weeks ago and declined.
What are the program management titles at Intuit ? Staff < Principal < Director? How many reports does a director of program management have ?
Eng: software eng 1 < software eng 2 < senior swe < staff < principal/architect < distinguished eng/architect < fellow/vp
At least be careful of HR while negotiating they will squeeze you to take less (compensation + role) false promises and policy changes very fast so get everything in written(I have burned my fingers )
I had offer from Intuit data eng org few years ago. Pay is below FAANG but not terrible. I and 120k at essentially new grad level. Their titles are inflated. I know someone who has gotten to principal and staff within 3 years!
To add, work culture seems pretty good. Good work life balance and people seemed very nice .
Thatz so not true. At three years even staff is not common, might have been a rare case
