Intuit employees: how do you feel about your company's lobbying against simplifying tax prep? How do do you reconcile working there with making everyone's lives so miserable?
Dumb thread. It's the govts responsibility to favor citizens, not Intuit employees'

Meh, don't like it don't use it. Go pay a tax attorney or get someone else to do your taxes. They all screw you one way or the other. Unless you have pretty simple taxes nothing is free and reliable.
Google "ready return"
Yeah, it's all good until the day you get audited and need to spend time and money hiring someone to represent you. I would understand that if someone can't spend the money they would do whatever free or cheap option is available. I seriously doubt that most of the people here can't afford spending 100 bucks with Turbotax, HR block or whatever is out there.
It's a company's job to be greedy. Be mad at government.
Well when the company has bought the government i say be mad at both
This is same as asking US citizens, are you guys ashamed of bombing middle eastern countries for OIL? Why would employee be concerned about that. As far as they are only concerned about their paychecks and jobs.
Yes, US citizens should be concerned about what their country does and employees should be concerned about what their company does.
Citizen is pretty different from Employee.
But that stock though 🚀
Dan, the company man, felt loyalty to the corp. After 16 years of service, and a family to support He actually started to believe the weaponry and chemicals were for national defense. 'Cause Danny had a mortgage, and a boss to answer to. The guilty don't feel guilty, they learn not to. -NOFX, The Irrationality of Rationality
It's a joke that companies lobby against this.
Working with a contractor from Sweden currently. He was telling me about their process. You basically log in to a government website where they’ve already filled out your return with wages, investments, etc. Then you can e-sign and you’re done. It’s possible to edit but almost never necessary apparently. Given that the US government gets a copy of every single one of my tax forms already, the fact that we don’t have the same thing is a goddamn embarrassment.
It's the same here in India . You login fill up the form submit and use your National ID to authenticate . If you have tax payable, pay over internet and ennter the receipt number.
Similar in Australia.
