Please help me make a decision. I am an SDE3 at Amazon. I have these two offers to pick from: 1. Principal engineer at Intuit. Base $240k, TC: $425k 2. Architect in a startup, leading 50+ engineers, base $280k, rest paper money (potentially 1.5MM in 4 years if company suceeds). Thank you
How confident are you in the success of the startup? Big established companies are always going to be there. I think you learn more (and faster) working at a startup. You wear a lot more hats and own a lot more of the projects. In the end, it all hinges on whether the startup has a good business plan and a solid product. Other things like amount of money raised/valuation don't matter as much. Juicero had millions in funding and it was a dud. Then again, if you're looking for more stability and a good work life balance, a big established company is the safer bet.
Startup. Intuit is one of the scummiest companies around.
True. 425 tc though
Yeah thatās true unf. At Intuit you get money but you donāt learn anything. Itās not a great place to work. Iād recommend the startup.
Startup gig sounds pretty good. You can always do that for a few years, try to bank some cash, then boomerang back to Amazon as an L7 or staff/L6 level at G/FB
Thank you everyone. I was leaning towards the startup, and was afraid that collective guidance would suggest otherwise. It really helped.
Intuit is super political and the engineering is not great.
From Amazon to Intuit? Like really?? Don't fall for the money I'd say. The startup options seems really good
Current tc?
Yes
