Hi all, I’m really new to investment. I invested 20K in SP500 ETF fund and 10k in MSCI fund. After a week, I already lost $200 and $90 in each fund respectively. Is this fluctuation expected? I meant to keep it at least two years anyway, but losing 1% seems like a lot, so just wanted to double check if this is expected and normal, or I happened to invest in the bad time.
Dude ETFs are long term investments like decades
SP500 may not be the best choice if your time of investment is for just 2 yrs. it is good on the long, more like 8+ yrs

A lot? Please educate yourself better.. this is noise
Lol
you should not be investing
I'd recommend learning more about investing before making any more decisions. Losing 1% is nothing. You have to expect some short term losses for an overall gain over many, many years. Contrary to what it looks like with growth tech stocks, most investments are a grind and it takes willpower to not let emotion get in the way of decision making, especially when those numbers have a few more zeroes on them.
Buy it and forget about it. That money doesn't exist until you either blow through your emergency fund or are at retirement
