Junior investment professional here. Sick of lack of work-life balance / working weekends and considering a move to PM / Corp Strat roles, but dont want below 200k cash comp. Any (constructive) thoughts on career changes? also is there a blind equivalent for financiers that’s not wso?
Lol corp strat pays shit without an MBA and PM is almost impossible without PM Title and actual PM experience. You can try for an APM rotational but wont hit the comp metrics you're looking gor
Background, yoe ??
Just wanted to confirm we understand that PM and corp strategy (and internal m&a) roles require different skills and offer different career paths.
mba is the best route for your current position to be honest
5 Yoe making 300k but working 9-9 most days and half a day on weekends... will it be a better work life balance in PM? Happy to go get an MBA honestly
Not significant difference in wlb if you are a PM at Amazon or FB
Is your cash comp >200k right now?
More constructively, yes as PM at faang + most of the recent ipoed unicorns you will make more than 200k between base, bonus, and equity. Breaking into will be tough. Your best bet is probably MBA + internships.
