New grad starting at FB soon. Will be receiving 500k back from EB5 investment for green card in a year or two. How should I invest this? Any suggestions on what I should look into? Have about another 130k in Vanguard ETFs in Robinhood.
By cheap appartments and rent them out.
I don't think I know enough about real estate, but thanks for the suggestion. I'll learn more about this market.
how are you receiving 500K? don't you have to spend all that money and create 10 full time jobs in 2years? details please
You can look into regional centers for investment. They are safer
https://m.timesofindia.com/business/india-business/rush-to-invest-500k-get-green-card/articleshow/57194510.cms mentioned as the "The second way" in the article. so do you get GC and can work for any company right away?
Soooooo you dont need to return it to the parents? It was a gift?
Yes. They are also planning to immigrate to the US once I get my citizenship as the inheritance tax in my country is very high.
You have to wait 5 years before you are eligible to apply for citizenship after GC. I’d research or talk to an immigration lawyer to see if there is any fine print or repercussions if you withdraw your 500k EB5 investment before getting your citizenship.
Yes. The plan has been discussed with a lawyer. Thank you for the warning.
If you're comfortable with robinhood, just buy more VOO / VT. Otherwise open a new account on Vanguard / Fidelity and buy the equivalent mutual funds.
Great suggestion. Ideally I'd be banking on a long term investment as my retirement fund.
Why do you receive 500k back?
You can cash out from the investment after certain number of years
Wut? So you invested 500k in US economy in exchange for a greencard, and you can actually get that money back later, while keeping the greencard?
