I am looking for roles in Bay Area to interview and most of them are in 110- 120K base range as per glassdoor ( I am in BI /analytics role). Can I manage to live well in Bay area for the same salary. I am single, studio apt is enough for me. Can't drive so would want to live in places close to offices like mountain view, sunnnyvale ...etc. YoE- 2 , Salary - 115K Base
Get roommates and live a frugal live.
No, if you are planning on getting your own studio, possible if you are getting a roommate. After paying taxes, social security, medical, 401k, rent, food, etc. What do you have left? :(
Ok thats good.
@OP expect to pay atleast $2500 (minimum) in locations you mentioned.
For a studio I mean.
Thats $30,000 from after tax money 😬
Not really, unless you have roommates.
You can just do fine make a budget cut down on eating out. Ignore the tech bros of blind.

If single .. you will survive. If married with kids and wife not working , you will surely die
I have survived with a kid who went to private school in 2016 and spouse was not working. It all depends on how much you spend. We didn’t eat much outside or going out for drinks and coffee. We lived comfortably, once every 2 weeks for dinner outing. So don’t say he will die. Even Jeff Bezos also thinks that if someone is earning less than 2 millions a month will die hungry
I had 120 base with non working spouse, kid, and visiting parents for most time. It’s definitely manageable and you can even save decently. (Bay Area, California)
