Background: I am currently in San Francisco and will be joining Amazon in Seattle soon. I never tried to pretend to be straight in workplace in San Francisco, and no one has given me a hard time at work even thought I was working along side with many more senior and older people. I haven't much experience working outside of the rainbow bubble of the Bay area, so please let me know if those are stupid questions. Questions: 1. in your experience, is it okay to just talk about boys and without being judged at amazon(Seattle)? 2. My buddy at Amazon also found out the team I will be joining is mostly indian, so what is the general attitude of American Indian/indian immigrants towards gay men? PS recently there were some aggressive comments towards indian people, and I hope this won't be considered offensive since I am actually concerned about whether I will have to put myself back in closet at work for the next two years. Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’

How friendly is Apple for LGBT people?
On average pretty good. We have an openly gay CEO so I think that helps
I don’t know if I’d say friendly...more like indifferent.
Nope, it can play in your favor during promotion. Orgs have D&I goals for headcount and management.
Can more people confirm that it could be in my favor during promotion?
You should ask is it human friendly?
It's dog friendly for sure
How about queer dogs?
I’d say it’s very friendly. Seattle in general is very LGBT friendly in general
Thanks for your input!
Very welcome! There is a very active amazon community called Glamazon as well. Look into it when you join and it’ll be a place to find a great support circle!
I am a straight Indian and totally respect LGBT community for what they stand for. We come in a wide bunch, and I know some Indians who are assholes too. You should totally be who you are, and not worry about a few rotten folks.
Thanks for the positivity, ohgdfhh!

How does it work for lesbians asking for myself haha
I am tempted to make a joke about their unlimited 🍌. Congrats on the offer and the TC jump. Tell us later if you found it to be a good place for yourself.
Potassium! And yes I will!
I don’t get it. Why would you be “talking about boys” at work? Why would you be talking about your sex life at all? Not that it’s a taboo or anything, but I just realized it never crossed my mind to wonder if my co-workers are gay or straight, and if you asked me, I wouldn’t know or care.
Haven't you talked about your personal life with your coworkers? If so, talking about your partner is almost inevitable. And I don't know why you assume I will be talking about my sex life.
Ok I see your point. The answer is: nobody cares.
Try to get in Google. Super LGBT friendly there.
I made Google wait because I didn't think I was ready and now they didn't want to interview at the moment 😨
Ugh... 😢
