Is Apple not FANG level?
Sometime I see people mentioning Apple as not being at the same level as Facebook, amazon, google or even Netflix for that matter. Also don’t see people fantasizing getting into the company same as rest of the companies mentioned above. Is the tech stack, quality of techies not at the same level or hiring bar is considerably lower, which makes it easy to get in? Thoughts?

FANG is a phrase created by Cramer to describe internet stocks that at that time were high growth. Is Apple an internet stock? Not really. Apple is a mobile phone and hardware company though it does cross over a bit with things like Apple TV and such. So the answer to your question is no, but the question doesn't mean what you thought.
FANG was the initial term that Jim Cramer originated when all Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google stocks were soaring, but then Apple stocks performed really well and Jim thought APPL is a great long term buy hence he respun the term to FAANG. Do I think if Apple is at the same level of FANG in terms of tech stack, engineering pool etc. - I think FNG has a different tier altogether but Apple > Amazon for pay, wlb, benefits and the engineering pool differs team to team e.g. IS&T at Apple is a terrible eng department to work for but Apple Media Products has some of the smartest engineers in the valley.
Thanks, Why do you you think FNG is at a different level than AA? I feel, expect the pay at Netflix, it’s not as prestigious as F&G.
Overall the hiring bar at FNG is higher amongst FAANG, having said that there are teams at Apple & Amazon where the hiring bar is much tougher.
But hiring bar doesn’t necessarily dictate tier 1, does it? Just trying to understand!!
I think it’s based on how pervasive your tech is in the world. Say what you want based on the stock performance, Apple still makes good products and it’s not because our Engineers suck. Who else has their hardware, software and features routinely ripped off by the rest of the industry (and beyond)? Who makes hardware and software that has a higher level of customer satisfaction and loyalty?
I’d agree, but it’s becoming less and less so. Momentum isn’t on Apples side and that influences perception.
Looks like launching some new services will definitely diversify. And somehow, this stock crash and rift will benefit Apple in a way that it comes out of the cocoon and build something innovative and stun the world again :)
Apple is not alone and Amazon also sucks.. FNG are different league.
