I haven’t done shit today!
I believe my revenue streams are pretty simple. I get a paycheck, invest in some stock myself and also use wealthfront. That's it. Do I need a CPA? I was originally just going to use turbotax and saw posts on internal groups about people having to pay additional, unnecessary tax due to software mistakes or bad CPA. Is it because their revenue is too complicated, or do I have to be careful too? I was of the impression I just need to submit my w2 and 1099. Thank you!
At some companies, if you have ESPP, the discount is taxed as ordinary income in W-2. In 1099, that portion still shows up as capital gains. You need to adjust the capital gains in order to not double pay taxes on the discount.
Bad advice. You can be an engineer with RSUs, rental properties, royalties and partnerships. I know at least one.
I know me
You can handle it yourself. hrblock.com is better even.
Why? Trying to choose between TurboTax and HR block
I've used both, felt that hrb had a better process, and options to pay a little for professional review.
