Is Cruise getting better?

There's a lot of bad things witten on blind about Cruise, no company is perfect, but are they at least getting better? If anyone working there came from Tesla, how would you compare? (Tesla tends to get some bad press as well and is not that bad) DM me if you don't want to post publicly. I'm looking for honest answers, and not just "stay away"

Not sure how “getting better” is quantified and what is it relative to? Compared to stuff i keep hearing from friends and coworkers about tsla it’s already lightyears better. Now is it quite the rooftop rest and vest you’d find at google? No

I was wondering if the bad things talked about Cruise were from growing pains and if things are getting better on that front. Tesla isn't actually that bad (depends on team), so good to know people think Cruise is better in that aspect.

Most of these “bad things” are only couple sockpuppet accounts who either got canned or ragequit. Not surprising given company had tripled in size in one year and we obv hired people we shouldn’t have hired. If you look at our lounge most people are complaining about pay =) cruise still has startup mentality but kyle is not nearly as deranged as musk appears to be. Hey, he hasn’t messaged me with random “drop everything” requests in like a year!

Cruise is far ahead of tesla

Just my opinion, but no, it’s unfortunately not getting better.

Cruise has massive problems with leadership maturity and ability to work together as one team. Yes the org has grown tremendously.. but the senior leadership is absolutely not working together to address lack of alignment and growing pains. There is a serious fear culture and shut up or you are next culture for those pointing this out.

another important thing: if you care about job security, don't join. Even directors were let go with no warning.

Engineers are safer than managers in any company..isn't it?

Cruise Automation sudo_ki/// Jul 25, 2019

no, it happened to everyone, including 2 SWEs on my team. My skip-skip manager was let go in the same manner. He cried on his way out :(

We have just hired in a lot from Tesla and their general feedback is Tesla was a nightmare compared to Cruise. I think a lot of the current complaints are due to the hyper growth and some catching up we need to do to better accommodate a much larger population. Coming from a truly volatile environment myself, I don't see Cruise nearly as bad as it looks here on Blind. A lot of work to be done, but a solid foundation to build upon.

LOL

Lol @ people complaining who haven’t worked at both. Sure things can seem bad to you, but it’s no comparison.🍿 It depends a lot on your team at Tesla, your work ethic, and your definition of “bad”.
