Is Google hiring SWEs right now?

I sent in my application to Google almost 4 months ago for an entry-level SWE position and haven't gotten a reply yet. I had applied over a year ago and gotten rejected after making it to on-sites, and that time, they sent me a coding challenge within 2 weeks of my initial application. I thought it'd be faster this time around since I have a year of work experience now and I'm already in their system, but I figured it was probably because of some hiring freeze due to Covid. I was wondering if anyone knows what the current state of Google's SWE hiring is like. Is it just me whose application has gotten lost or is this happening to everyone? Should I send in another application, message a recruiter on LinkedIn to get the application looked at, or just keep waiting? #google #jobopening #hiring #softwareengineer

Yeah, I figured this was probably the case. Could you elaborate though? Is there a significant hiring slowdown on entry-level positions?

I think it’s because that you had failed on-site once, they decide to move forward with other ppl. They definitely rank the candidate by some sort of standard, IMO failing on-site once could hurt that ranking. I recently referred my ex coworker who have worked at both Uber and amazon to google, he got phone interview in 3 days

Really? I would’ve expected having made it to on-sites and having an extra year of work experience to improve the ranking rather than hurting it. That’d suck if that were the case. Do you think maybe your ex coworker’s app got fast tracked because of the referral?
