Self proclaimed influencers and gurus are everywhere in LinkedIn. They can’t spend a single day without posting free gyaan. After they gather enough followers they will start making courses on YouTube about JavaScript, react etc so that all these followers will watch and generate revenue to them with ads. While this is great model for those gurus it makes the experience worst for everyone else. I neither connect nor follow these gurus but my feed is always filled with garbage they post. Obviously I can’t unfollow all of my connections who like/share these gurus posts I am done with unfollowing connections who bring this garbage to my feed. #tech
As a new grad from college I do use it a lot to connect with hrs and looking for referrals. But after getting a job I no longer look at it nor update my profile
The “social media” part of LinkedIn is pure garbage
Not as nauseating as POS managers at Amazon
TBF it serves a useful purpose - justifying promotions
I basically unsubscribe immediately when I see influencer stuff to keep it for only job postings or some reports etc. But yeah, I feel like they don't know what to do with Linkedin themselves.
Are you Indian? Lol
99% are indian on Blind no matter how hard they try to fake.
Out of curiosity, why does it matter?
Yes it is. As much as Facebook is dying.
I wouldn’t compare yourself to FB
Yes look at insane growth of startups like Hiretual etc. Whose chunk do they think they're eating
Yup. Just like Facebook, they've been dying for several years and will continue to be dying for decades, probably
we are In it together, my brother at Google.

The most irritating posts on LI feed are folks showing off their trivial certifications as if they completed a thesis and then 100 people congratulating them on their monumental achievement! Not claiming that FB feed is good but providing objective feedback on LI feed.
This ^! I work with SA's who have all of their certs yet they don't know much as they never actually built anything. Seems it's all about the art of the con these days

I think it’s here to stay, but I agree with your general sentiments. I don’t look at it much anymore other than to look up someone’s work experience or background. I don’t care about the influencers who are posting about current events, or those stories about how amazing they were in various situations. It’s all noise. And now that I think about it more, I found my current job outside of LinkedIn. But generally I feel like you need to be on LinkedIn if you are a job seeker or looking for top talent. Maybe I’m wrong.
