^ Title says it all. Appreciate your comments. Disclaimer: I don't work at eBay.
Yes of course. I would even say with the developer/community focused approach they've had recently, respect has gone up.
Yes
Not in terms of TC
Why do they pay so less as compared to other major companies. They are losing on talent.
I guess it has been working for them. There are actually a lot of people at Microsoft who are not really that good engineers. Some are amazing for sure. But you can easily compare a Microsoft principal to one at Google Facebook or Amazon. I have worked at Amazon and L7 engs there are very talented. At Microsoft many(not all) L66s are even not that good.
If it were, all these MSers wouldn’t be bching about Apple and FB all the time, and would be happy in their own world :) it’s a gateway to faang that’s all
M$ is nowhere near the prestige it used to have, but it's definitely still a plus on your resume. There are better companies, for sure, but nobody will look at MS experience and see it as a negative.
Does MS name on resume help to get reached out by recruiters from FAANG?
Definitely yes, but like I said it doesnt carry anywhere near the weight it used to. You're not guaranteed an interview, but MS is still a solid company with a lot in common with current FAANG dev. It might not be an automatic foot in the door, but it's still a positive.
Great questions
This. I just don’t understand. Who cares what company as long as you are getting paid and livin it up. Does “I work at Facebook” have some sorta magical pickup power with the ladies?
Of course! I get mobbed at the stop sign right outside FB's office as I'm leaving work. It's a serious safety hazard - all those scantily dressed women desperate for some Tier 1, high prestige d***
you must be another universe, i don’t see such women
1. It is well respected in tech, especially with the cloud and developer focus. So it’s a good brand on your resume and will open up more opportunities in future. 2. It generally keeps employees happy compared to Amazon or Facebook. Yes, it’s not the best payer in tech. But then no one is ever happy no matter what comp they get. All that matters is if you’re happy with the comp and if it meets your lifestyle expectations. 3. It will give you time for personal life. In the right team you get to work on challenging problems. There are a lot of areas you can work on. Evaluate these three points a reach a conclusion. If you want the best TC ever, stop cribbing and considering Microsoft’s and Amazons. Get into fintech or Airbnb or Google with counter offers.

Which firm is more prestigious: Boston Consulting Group or Palantir?
Yes. It's a decent place to work at. Depending on the team or org you're at , it could be very good for you. Pay wise it's not the best but recent offers are good or atleast at par with Amazon or similar tier 2(by pay) companies.
How about Azure?
Full of Indians and bad wlb
