It's clear that Netflix had failed to monopolize the market now that so many competitors have emerged. Is Netflix done? https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/09/disney-makes-up-ground-on-netflix-blowout-disney-subscriber-adds-.html
Disney sucks
They got Ted Lasso though
Hmm isnt Ted Lasso on Apple+?
given that netflix still reported net adds — i think what *is* done is the narrative that streaming is “winner takes all” it’s clear that households can and will subscribe to multiple services. anecdotally, i don’t know of anyone who canceled netflix and subbed to disney. it’s always netflix + a bevy of other services
i think the bullish netflix take on this is that streaming is a technological and product drag, and eventually more studios will realize it’s more profitable to license to netflix/amazon/etc vs doing themselves fully expect paramount and peacock to go this route eventually i think the initial idea for hulu was interesting, but mistimed. might do better now
Netflix is going to be a rollercoaster Don't expect it to be forever up or bankrupt Expect Netflix to be a relatively modest growth business this decade till they diversify or do something drastically innovative in their industry
It’s not done but gets fked hard by Disney because Disney has better content for its audience. Netflix will be around. It just missed the window to become a monopoly. Disney holds so much content and connections that Netflix will never have. So it cannot dominate the market.
This quarter, the subscribers are binge watching Disney+. Next quarter or the one after that, when they run out of interesting shows, they will subscribe to Netflix to binge watch what they have.
Disney has existed for decades but it’s not that other studios haven’t done well! Netflix is also a studio and best content is the winner here. As long as Netflix creates good shows, they are in the running. It is indeed a crowded space because I don’t want to have more than 2 subscriptions so it will be harder for them to compete but Netflix IMHO will always get a consideration.
Netflix will survive but it will not be as profitable as it was and that will reflect in the stock. They come up with good shows but the user base is saturating. Thats why Netflix is cracking down on sharing of passwords in family plans. It will always be a good company(hopefully) but no longer faang level of stock growth.
I feel a bit nickel and dimed by Netflix. If I want better quality I have to pay. Prices keep going up. I can’t even integrate Netflix into Apple TV like I can with the others. The thing is I will still stay a subscriber but it just doesn’t feel like a company that’s helping solve my problems I guess.
Netflix added about the same subs as Disney+ over the last 6 months at 3x ARPU

Is life really better in the US?
Nope it's just more closer to saturation than Disney which is a bit further down the saturation curve Netflix major issue is their content and poor market share in developing counties in Latin America and Asia
